There have been rumors for a while now that a Fantastic Beasts game is under developement. That is yet to be confirmed but now it is announced that Harry Potter will become a mobile RPG game called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. It is currently being developed by Jam City, an L.A. based mobile games studio, in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
The game will be released under Portkey Games–a label dedicated solely to the Harry Potter franchise, as well as other J.K. Rowling creations such as Fantastic Beasts. The upcoming augmented reality game “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” is also being launched by Portkey, but it is being developed by Niantic Labs (who created Pokemon Go).
In the game, players will be able to create their own characters and live life as a regular Hogwarts student through the years. According to Warner Bros., some of the franchise’s most iconic professors and characters will make appearances in the game. It will be free to play, and it is set to be available through Google Play, Apple Store and the Amazon App Store in early 2018.
