‘AVATAR’- SEQUELS PRODUCTION RESUMES

Jon Landau is the producer helming the production of the ‘Avatar’- sequels. He has been working under James Cameron’s (writer and director) supervision in the past with: ‘Titanic’, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ and the first ‘Avatar’ film.

The production for the upcoming films of the franchise (there will be FOUR more!) has been put on hold because of the virus around the world, but the same Jon has published an Instagram post that reveals it will resume next week.

Here’s the announcement:

‘Avatar 2’ was firstly announced for a 2018- release, got pushed back, aimed for a 2020- premiere and now we do hope we’ll get it next December (2021), as planned at the moment.

Who wish to return to Pandora soon?

James Cameron is the mastermind behind the wonderful world of Pandora. The original movie premiered ten years ago and was the highest grossing film of all-time until recently, when Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame dethroned it.

The project has been in work for a while and the latest info speculates about a December 2021 release. There are 3 more planned (taking the total of the franchise up to 5 movies).

#MOVIES: ‘AVATAR 2’ Expected To Hit Christmas 2017

FOX CEO Jim Gianopulos said that the sequel is expected to hit theaters on Christmas 2017.
Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 would then release in late 2018, respectively late 2019.

James Cameron has said before that he was waiting for the technology to develop further to be able to deliver jaw- dropping effects and scenes, just as the original movie, that hitt theaters 6 years ago, did.

At the same time, he was working with a group of screen writers on all three sequels at once, which can be very challenging. According to the FOX CEO, James Cameron wants to make sure that he has a well written story to work with.
