REAL Defeats BARCELONA In EL CLASICO

After the 0-4 lose last year and with a new trainer – Zinedine Zidane – on the bench and 10 points behind the oppontents, Real was under huge pressure from the fans in tonight’s El Clasico.

The first 45 minutes of the game are nothing to remember as the chances from both sides were modest and most important: no goals were scored. The second half begun better and in ’56 Pique scored the first goal of the game. Lionel Messi‘s shot was saved by Real‘s goalkeeper Keylor Navas and out for a corner. Rakitic sent the ball into the box and Pique, who managed to escape Pepe‘s marking, scored and put the home team in advantage.

Seven minutes later, Benzema scored and tied the score. Sergio Ramos got a red card and was sent off.The minute after, after a counter attack, Cristiano Ronaldo scored after a pass from Gareth Bale and put Real in advantage. It was the 85th minute and the decisive goal of the game.

Ronaldo had a shot in the post previously to his goal. Gareth Bale scored but it was called off by the referee for a presumed fault at Barcelona defender Jordi Alba.

Real has narrowed the gap to Primera Division– and El Clasico– opponents to 7 points behind, each with 7 more matches left for this season.

Barcelona – Real Madrid 1-2 (Pique 56 / Benzema 63, Ronaldo 85)

The starting 11:
Barcelona: Claudio Bravo – Dani Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Jordi Alba – Busquets, Rakitic (Arda Turan 74), Iniesta – Messi, Neymar, Suarez
Real Madrid: Navas – Carvajal, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo – Casemiro, Kroos, Modric – Bale (Lucas Vazquez 90), Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo
