I bet by now you are familiar with the Gods- slayer Kratos. My experiences are completing Chain of Olympus on PSP and God of War 3 on PS3. Yeah, the Ascension (PS3) demo as well.
However, I would be glad to buy the PS4 title – set in the Norse mythology – and at the same time complete the other titles in the series.
PS4’s GoW looks superb and here’s a 2 hours long documentary on making the game:
YouTube video description:
Raising Kratos documents the five-year, herculean effort to reinvent one of the greatest stories in gaming, God of War. Facing an unknown future, Santa Monica Studio took a massive risk, fundamentally changing their beloved franchise and re-establishing their rightful place in video game history. More than just a “making of,” this cinematic journey of second chances rooted in family, sacrifice, struggle and doubt follows game director Cory Barlog and those who chase perfection in art and storytelling. Witness the incredible defeats, the unpredictable outcomes and the down-to-the-wire tension on full display in this true-life redemption story.
So, 20th April 2018… mark the date on your calendar. Clear that schedule, tell your significant other they are wonderful, because that is always a nice thing to do, and then wonder what you will do with all that free time you have now that you don’t need to keep asking me when the release date is.
God of War is one of the biggest franchises across all platforms and it’s PS exclusive. The next iteration will be released first quarter of 2018.
The first 6 games were all about the Greek mythology. The next title in the series will take a new approach, introducing Norse mythology and belief system. In an interview with Cory Barlog (game director), the Egyptian- and Mayans- mythology are being teased:
The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth.
It’s unknwn when or where the series may be heading but the director stated that:
It was getting old. The storyline with Kratos being the hardcore badass – I think people were starting to say, ‘What’s next?’ I felt like, in order to reinvent, we really needed to turn a lot of things around.
The new God of War seems to become the longest game in the series. Producer Cory Barlog has uder PSX announced that during the latest testplays, the playtime cloacked at around 25 – 35 hours.
Over the last four or five playtests, we’ve been clocking the total gameplay time is somewhere in the arena of 25 to 35 hours. So accidentally made it a lot bigger.
Earlier games in the series took about 10 hours to finish. It remains to see how much of ghe time will be spent on the main story respectively on the side quests.
It is rumored that Sony‘ Santa Monica Studio is working on God of War 4 and according to a possible leak, the setting may be the Norse mythology.
According to NeoGAF users, the leak is legit and even features a version of the series’ hero – Kratos. Check out the link for yourself: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=200150760&postcount=1
